How to set-up an email account using Microsoft Outlook.

1. You will now see the pop up box entitled "Internet E-mail settings (POP3)" . Here is where you will make some changes

2. User Information :

  • Your Name: Should be no change.
  • E-mail Address: should be no change

3. Logon Information

  • User Name: Should be whole email address- not just the name. i.e. jsmaith@cityof terrell.org - not just jsmith
  • Password: In the space provided, enter the password you were given when the account was created. Assuming you are updating an existing account you will not change that setting! The server is set to the original password you were provided.

4. Server Information:

  • Incoming mail server (POP3): In the space provided change it to mail.cityofterrell.org
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): In the space provided enter the same information you just entered for the POP3 server. Enter mail.cityofterrell.org ( note- you are just adding mail. in front of cityofterrell.org. Don't forget the dot between mail and cityofterrell.org

5. As shown in the diagrams above, DO NOT SELECT the box on the left which says "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)".

6. Make sure the "remember password" box is checked so you will nat have to re-enter your password each time you retrieve email.

7.Click on the "More Settings" button located to the right of "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)". See diagram below for an example:
